
The local name of Taian Bridge is called He's Bridge, which was built in Wanli Period of Ming Dynasty (A.D.1584). There are carved characters "Kangxi Yichou Nian (1685)" on the forehead of the bridge which proving the bridge once has been rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. In the autumn of 2003, the bridge was completely repaired & renovated again. The Taian Bridge is a stone bridge with single hole, the length is 26.20 M, the width is 4.20 M, the height is 5.60 M, and the arch span is 9.30 M. The architecture of Ming dynasty survived like Taian Bridge is rare in Shanghai region now, so it is very valuable to us. The Taian Bridge possesses of graceful visual appearance, even sets itself with the surrounding and becomes a fascinating landscape of the town. The Taian Bridge is listed in "Pedigree of Chinese Bridge", and was evaluated as county-level historical and cultural site under government protection in 1994. |
